2026 LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE - Community Clean-Up Weekends in April
The City of Lamar's Public Works Department is encouraging our community to clean up our properties and town in April in preparation for Lamar celebrating its 140th Birthday in May. The Lamar Transfer Station and Landfill will accept household waste free of charge each weekend in April. This excludes construction and demolition waste as well as commercial trash.
April 2026 dates are 4/4; 4/11; 4/12; 4/18; 4/19; 4/25; and 4/26.
Transfer Station
- 609 Crystal Street
- 1 pickup load, per household per day
- E-waste accepted
- Up to 4 tires per day (excludes semi tires)
Landfill
- 29141 County Road 14 (6 miles east of Lamar on Hwy 50 and 2 miles south on County Road 14).
- Unlimited loads per day
- E-waste accepted
- Up to 9 tires per day (semi tires accepted at extra charge)
Hours:
- Saturdays 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- Sundays 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Details:
- Transfer station - 1 load per day per household
- Landfill - Unlimited loads per household
- Tree limbs and wood do not need to be kept separate
- All items must be taken to the transfer stat or landfill. Each item will be screened upon arrival and placed in the appropriate location (loads larger than a pickup will NOT be accepted at the transfer station and will be advised to go to the landfill)
- Asbestos, commercial hazardous waste or liquids will NOT be accepted
- Residents/ Sanitation customers ONLY, commercial waste will be accepted at the landfill and MUST be paid
- Gate attendants will verify residency via driver’s license or utility bill. Customers unable to provide proof of residency will NOT be able to leave their waste.
- Trailers and truck loads MUST be tarped

- Lead acid batteries
- All metal objects
- Refrigerators or Freon containing appliances
- Computers/ E-waste
- Used oil
- All liquids

Free Dump (Transfer Station & Landfill) Weekends
The City of Lamar is proud to offer “Free Dump” Weekends to Lamar residents and Lamar Sanitation customers. The intent is to assist residents who find the City’s standard fees a financial barrier as they dispose of household and yard waste that will not fit in a standard household dumpster.

Free Dump Weekends are the last full weekend of month, subject to change due to major holidays and weather. See current free dump weekend schedule.
Residents can bring trash to either the Transfer Station or the Landfill; see below for additional information.
- City of Lamar Landfill: 29141 County Rd. 14 (6 miles east of Lamar on Hwy 50 and 2 miles south on County Rd. 14). Weekend hours are 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Sundays.
- City of Lamar Transfer Station: Open only for Free Dump Weekends. 609 Crystal Street in Lamar. (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Sundays). Limit of one load per household/day.
Important Reminders:
- For City of Lamar residents and Sanitation customers ONLY. Must provide valid ID with address within City limits or City of Lamar utility bill. (Non-residents and non-sanitation customers will be billed at regular rates.)
- All loads (to either location) MUST be tarped. All uncovered loads will be charged $10.00.
- Large loads MUST go to the Landfill (any load larger than a standard pickup bed).
- Construction and/or project debris that require a permit are only accepted at the Landfill with a fee.
- Contractors will be charged for all project debris.
- Gate attendee makes all decisions on what is allowed and where
- Appliances, e-waste and tires are not free; they will be accepted with a fee.
